Ajaya Mohapatra is the Co-founder and Managing Director of Justrojgar India Pvt. Ltd. and the CEO of We The People (NGO). Ajaya co-founded, one of India’s first employment exchanges for the informal sector. Ajaya has over 22 years of experience spanning NGOs, chambers of commerce, corporate sector, and government at all levels, bilateral and multilateral agencies. Ajaya holds a Post Graduate degree in Rural Development from Xavier Institute of Social Services (XISS), Ranchi and was a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, UK. He is trained on entrepreneurship from Chicago School of Business, U.S. and Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia.

Current impact of the project

"As a socially responsible enterprise, We The People is committed to tracking social metrics and understand and report the cascading social benefits of its interventions to its donors and funders. The company has created the following social impact so far: • Provided livelihoods and livelihood services to over 12,000 households from lower income groups spread across Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Rajasthan through public-private partnerships (PPP). • Offered financial inclusion services (including savings, micro-credit, pension and insurance) to 6000 families, both in rural and urban areas of Himachal Pradesh and Delhi respectively and also impacted in increase in their income through self-employment and micro-enterprise development. • Trained and placed over 5000 candidates in hospitality, Retail & Sales, IT & ITeS and BFSI in Delhi & NCR, Himachal Pradesh and Odisha: o Candidates were placed in reputed organizations; o Candidates saw an average increase in income of over 40% after 3 months of classroom and on-the-job training. • Partnering with Delhi Police under YUVA for offering skills training to the under-educated and under-skilled youth at the BoP. So far, skills trained over 150 candidates and placed more than 115 candidates. • Supported over 1500 women and farmers through SHGs and Producer Company in Himachal Pradesh for livelihoods promotion in partnerships.
